Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa is one of the largest Maori providers of integrated, social, health and education services in the Eastern Bay of Plenty-Whakatane.
As a kaitiaki o Whānau Resilience, you will work alongside whānau, providing holistic support and guidance to enhance their health and wellbeing. You will collaborate with community partners, health providers, and kaupapa Māori services to develop tailored strategies that empower whānau to overcome challenges and achieve their aspirations.
What will you bring?
We are seeking a person who:
- Has a passion and commitment to achieve health, education and social outcomes for tamariki and whānau.
- A qualification and experience relevant to working with tamariki and their whānau i.e. social work, education or health
- Knowledge and understanding of Tīkanga Māori and Kaupapa Māori service delivery
- Ability to make crucial decisions involving safety and wellbeing based on their professional judgement, therefore must have appropriate knowledge and skills to carry out their roles safely and in partnership with others in the workforce.
- Excellent knowledge of services available in the community.
- Good computer skills
- A full clean current driver’s license

About The Role:
The Housing Project Coordinator will work closely with the Project Leads and key stakeholders to assist and support the assessment, planning, implementation, and delivery of housing projects. You will have hands on involvement in supporting whānau to work towards achieving home ownership, wellbeing and independence. This is a 12 month fixed term role.
What you will Bring:
- Significant experience in project management, coordination and administration – in particular housing and construction
- Experience in contract administration, including but not limited to:

- Completing and lodging building consents

- Managing project schedules

- Administrative support to project leads

- Scheduling

- Producing reports and diagrams
- Technically minded with the ability to confidently use the Microsoft Suite and Project Management tools

What you will bring:
- Experience working in workforce development, education and training
- Previous management experience

- Must be a qualified tradesperson.
- Organised with experience in Microsoft Office products and record-keeping.
- Confident in delivering Level 1 and 2 NZQA and BCITO Unit Standards.
- Excellent communicator who can inspire and motivate tauira.
- Ensures accuracy in all tasks with a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Works well in a collaborative environment and supports team members.
- Maintains a professional and tidy appearance.

- Able to manage relationships at all levels of the organisation, with whānau and key stakeholders

Kaiako – Early Childhood
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
Te Waipuna Ariki o Matangireia Early Childhood Centre, is nestled within our iwi organisation Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngati Awa and provides care and education to predominantly Māori tamariki (aged between 6 months- 6 years), though we warmly welcome ngā hau e whā. Our Centre provides a whare for tamariki and their whānau to learn and thrive in Te Reo me ōna Tikanga o Ngāti Awa within a bilingual curriculum.
Te Waipuna Ariki o Matangireia welcomes passionate Kaiako, who are comfortable and confident in their knowledge of Te Reo and tikanga Māori, to join our teaching whānau.
Te Waipuna Ariki o Matangireia is the place to be – with fantastic kaiako to tamariki ratios, a Christmas shutdown period – plus loads of additional staff benefits.

He kōrero mōu | About you
You will be a kind, empathetic and reliable Kaiako, who brings a knowledgeable understanding of tikanga Māori and is keen to support this kaupapa with our whānau. At a minimum, you will be able to converse in Te Reo Māori using basic sentences and be committed to engage in Professional Development to grow in this area. Our Kaiako and whānau welcome any applicant who are willing to embrace our kaupapa of Te Reo Māori me ōna Tikanga.
To be successful in this role, you will also be or hold:
- A level 7 or higher Early Childhood qualification and Teaching Council certification
- Applicants working towards or committed to complete a level 7 ECE qualification will be at an advantage.
- You will be comfortable and confident in your knowledge of Te Reo and tikanga Māori, with the ability to work with all age groups within a bilingual environment.
- Self-motivated, fun, enthusiastic and able to match current theory into practice and demonstrate a working knowledge of Te Whāriki and Te Whatu Pōkeka.
- You will have natural nurturing qualities that relate to ā-wairua, ā-tinana, ā-hinengaro, ā-whatumanawa o ngā tamariki.
- Show a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, confidently, and respectfully and committed to our kaupapa and to creating/maintaining strong, positive partnerships with the learning community.
- Able to work in a team who has a strong emphasis on whakawhanaungatanga (relationships and how we relate to others) and a collaborative work approach. You will be committed to the Kaupapa of giving to your community which involved supporting tangi, karakia (blessings), wananga, noho marae, Matariki to name a few.
- Embody a growth mind-set; be open and willing to reflect and change as we continue to evolve in our Kaupapa founded in Ngati Awatanga under the maru of Te Pou Mataaho.

Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa as the lead on behalf of the Eastern Bay of Plenty Iwi Alliance, are looking for a team of Midwives who are passionate about making a difference by supporting the health and wellbeing of hapū māmā and extended whānau to join our team.
We are seeking interested applicants to be part of our new and expanding integrated Maternity and Early Years Services – Kahu Taurima.
The successful applicants will be working as part of a wider team of health, education, and social services across the Eastern Bay of Plenty Iwi Provider Alliance. Including being a part of an interdisciplinary team of Midwives, Nurses, Lactation Consultants, SUDI (Sudden Unexplained Death in Infancy) Facilitator, Kaiāwhina and Hapū Wānanga Facilitators.
We are seeking to fill the position below:
- 1x Registered Midwife
Roles will involve working within a Kaupapa Māori model of care. Having the ability to engage with a diverse range of communities and establish strong stakeholder’s relationships, will be a key aspect of the role.
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Full driver’s license
- Ability to work with a diverse range of people, groups, community organizations and maintain effective relationships.
- A basic understanding of Te Reo Māori, a working knowledge of Te Ao Māori kaupapa and tikanga.
- Competence and flexibility in working with Māmā,Pēpi, Tamariki, whanau, hapu and Iwi.
